Sandra Sims Terry grew up in Laurel, graduated from VHS, where she was the first black student to attend, and over the past few decades has made a difference in the lives of so many people in her community – especially children. She recently added another recognition to her long list of well deserved accolades when the Venice Sertoma Club's Terry Redman (left) and club president Lynn Joyner presented her with the club’s Citizen Award at its Aug. 28 meeting at Allegro Bistro. The brick will be placed in a spot along the Venetian Waterway Park alongside those of other award winners. The area along the park is near Publix on the island.
