Question: What is the dilapidated old building on the south end of the city, and is anyone doing anything about it? –Nancy Y.
Answer: It sure looks like something they would like to bulldoze in Detroit, but it's the former Ringling Brothers Barnum & Bailey Circus Arena, and if it could talk, it could tell some real yarns! Back in the'70s and '80s it was the winter training ground for the circus, so it wasn't uncommon for those of us who lived here then to chat it up with lion trainers and bearded ladies over the tomatoes in the produce aisle. Because of its unique history, a group of Venice folks is raising money to turn it into a museum and tourist attraction. Leading the charge is Tito Gaona of the famous Flying Gaonas.
