What event this season are you most excited about?

“The Venice YMCA’s Black Tie Gala Feb. 4. The theme is ‘Diamonds and Pearls’ because the Y is celebrating its diamond anniversary and the 30th anniversary of the gala itself. Everyone comes together at the gala to connect and support the Y as a hub for our community. I always look forward to connecting with friends, old and new.”  —R.G. “KELLY” CALDWELL JR., CALDWELL TRUST COMPANY CEO AND PRESIDENT

“The Christmas events of our little town, particularly the Venice Holiday Parade the Saturday after Thanksgiving, the Blalock Park Tree Lighting Dec. 10, and A Christmas Carol at Venice Theatre. Christmas in Venice brings joy to our whole family.” —JAMES R. CLINCH, VENICE ASSISTANT CITY ENGINEER

“Because I was born and raised in the North, I used to associate Christmas with snow, but there’s something magical about strolling the decorated avenues of Venice. The Christmas spirit is alive during the Christmas Walk, when decorated stores stay open late and serve holiday goodies. Also on Dec. 23, Mindy Simmons will be back at the Centennial Park Gazebo with her free Christmas show. The gazebo is always beautifully decorated with garland and icicle lights.” —ERIN SILK, VENICE MAINSTREET EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR

“Hot jazz, high energy and doing good while having fun makes me look forward to the Second Annual Jazz Brunch sponsored by the Venice Symphony. Its proceeds fund education and music programs, including summer music camp and the Symphony in the Schools program for third graders. You’ll find me at Plantation Golf and Country Club, Sunday, March 12.” —JANICE ZARRO WOOD, COMMUNITY VOLUNTEER

“The opening of the Venice Performing Arts Center season, which will feature performances by Nelson Illusions, the Gaona family’s Flight Fantastic!, One-Day University, The Glenn Miller Orchestra, Tony Orlando, Women of Ireland, the Charlie Daniels Band, Yakov Smirnoff and Under the Big Top—something for everyone in our community.” —LEAH J. SHERMAN, COLLECTORS GALLERY & FRAMERY PROPRIETOR; VPAC BOARD MEMBER
