There is so much going on around town this Memorial Day weekend, it’s feeling like high season. Snook Haven hosts the 5th Annual Myakka Blues Festival from 11 a.m.-6:30 p.m., Monday. Can’t find a better atmosphere for a day of live blues (and BBQ, of course!) And it’s an impressive line-up, including award-winning blues-rock-jazz-guitarist Randy Stephens; the mountain-dulcimer playing Bing Futch, who plays at top venues around the country such as the House of Blues in Walt Disney World; the Duffy Bishop Band, and Packrat Thompson and Smokehouse. Tickets are $15; myakkablues.com; 5000 E. Venice Ave.
Downtown Venice is the place to be Saturday for beer aficionados. The Venice Brew Bash in Centennial Park will have over 60 craft and import beers to sample from 3-7 p.m. Saturday.
The Crow’s Nest is having an oyster and clam festival beginning tonight and running through Memorial Day. Beyond the seafood, there will be live music all weekend beginning today with Howlin’ Bob Fieberts; 1968 Tarpon Center Drive.
And to honor the reason for the four-day weekend, the American Legion No-Vel Post 159 hosts the annual Memorial Day Service, 10 a.m., Monday, at Patriots Park, 800 Venetia Bay Blvd.
