School is out, and it’s time to find fun activities that will keep the kids happy and the rest of the family sane. First up: a nature scavenger hunt called The Jungle in Your Backyard  at Bay Preserve, the beautiful bayfront site that’s home to the Conservation Foundation of the Gulf Coast.

On Saturday, June 9, from 9 a.m. until 11 a.m., children ages 5 to 12 can explore the lush grounds, searching for various leaves, flowers and plants. After they’ve satisfied their curiosity and expended their energy, they can settle down to create an artistic print from the materials they have collected, under the guidance of Sarasota Nature Printers.

Children must be accompanied by an adult, and advance registration is required. Bay Preserve is at 400 Palmetto Avenue in Osprey. To learn more or register, visit www.conservationfoundation.com/jungle  or call (941) 918-2100.

This event is inspired by Asolo Rep’s Jungle Book, presented June 6 through June 24. The family-friendly production is another great way to share summer fun with your kids. Info: www.asolorep.org.
