Venice is famous for its big, long-running festivals, from the Italian Feast and Carnival to last month’s Bluegrass and BBQ Bash. But there’s always room for more, as the Venice Seafood & Music Festival proved when it debuted last year. On a beautiful late-spring weekend, the newbie drew a big crowd of all ages to Centennial Park, and the food and music were diverse and satisfying. This weekend the festival returns, running May 5 and 6, again at Centennial Park. And best of all, it’s free!

The festival, hosted by Venice MainStreet, is produced by Paragon Festivals and runs from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. both days. Local restaurateurs will offer all sorts of seafood along with meat and vegetarian dishes and desserts, and there is an impressive line-up of performers. On Saturday, that includes RJ Howson, Kettle of Fish, the Sarasota Steel Pan Band and Twinkle & Rock Soul Radio. On Sunday you’ll hear Act 3, Mac Arnold & Plate Full O’Blues, Ari and the Alibis and Reverend Barry & The Funk.
