Stump Pass Beach on Manasota Key is a quiet, beautiful spot where outdoor lovers come for fishing, shelling, hiking, canoeing, and, of course, sunsets. But for birds like the white heron in the center of this photo, it’s also a great spot for finding a meal. Other common wildlife along the shoreline: snowy egrets, least terns and gopher tortoises.
