As you’ll read elsewhere in this issue, the Island of Venice is in the midst of a little building boom of new homes right now, but the original flurry of construction in the downtown area took place circa 1926. In this photo of Venice Avenue looking west from Nassau Street (supplied by the Venice Museum and Archives), you can look back to those days when the city was just beginning to grow its housing stock—and the newly planted trees lining the boulevard.
